Attached is this year's advanced map for Brewha Bushwhack. The event is an adventure "race" that based on a point system rather then time. The participants have id plants, climb bluffs, build fires, paddle canoes with field made paddles, etc. Each thing they successfully do they get points. One of the challenges is orienteering with a map they will be given before the start. There are two maps, an easy map with all the modern cartographic elements and pre-plotted points of all the stations they must find. Then there is this map, the advanced version, where they will get more points if the teams choose to use it. On the back of this map will be UTM coordinates of all the stations. They will have to plot their own points.
I wanted to give them a challenge of orienting themselves first, hence the design. I have stripped it down to its most basic elements that they will need. My hope is that I have at least one team head south instead of north or east instead of west. Is there anything else I can do to add confusion? Can y'all quickly orientate the map to north? I've put a few subtle hints in there.
Obviously if you see something wrong or just want to critique it feel free.
